Subject: Playing advice
Good morning! I turned 18 yesterday, and my father finally set me up
with a poker account for $100.
I'd really appreciate some advice as to what stakes to play, and how
to build up.

I'm not allowed to deposit again. My father said if I lose this, it's
all done, so any help would be appreciated.

I want to get betterm and eventually play in the Conneticutt casinos.
I attend URI, and have heard quite a lot about them.

Thanks very much!

Monique

Play very low stakes limit holdem and freeroll tournaments.  Be sure
to read a beginner's book like "Winning Low Limit Holdem" (Lee Jones)
or "Holdem Excellence: From Beginner to Winner" (Lou Krieger).  After
you have played about a month or so (3,000 hands or more) pick up a
copy of "The Complete Book of Holdem Poker" (Gary Carson),

Have fun and good luck!

$100 should be 500 BB... so you can play 10c 20c limit holdem.

Play it till you double your bankroll... then try .25-.50

If you bleed down to 50, play 5c 10c

And if it gets down to 25, consider a new hobby.
In the meantime, read up. Small Stakes Holdem is good, as is Lee Jones' book
and Carson's.

If you're into tournaments, play REAL cheap nes.
you can take a shot at a $1 or $2 tournament, but if you're not prodicing
quickly, you'll drain your bankroll dry.

learn more than limit holdem, it bores the hell out of me online, go to
the archives of this usenet group and find Russ Georgieves little tutorial
on low limit seven card stud hi/lo, at least that game is fun.  Sit and
go's are funner yet.  If you think you are not going to go broke you are
fooling yourself, winning at limit  holdem poker is a GRIND.  But you can
learn to win and have fun, with a little gamble if you learn 7 stud hi/lo
and learn sit and go's.  And believe it or not there are some sharks at it
at the 4/8 cent level at Stars stud games, but mostly soft players.  No
limit hold'em  is a very unfriendly game, with your experience and 100
bucks you won't last anytime at all at even the lowest limits.
